Betty García Mathewson

Betty García Mathewson
Senior Consultant
Betty García Mathewson
is a senior consultant with Consulting Services. She brings expertise in the areas of cultural competence and practice transformation. Betty has spent 25 years in the field of organizational development, and at the heart of her approach is a diversity lens informed by oppression theory and social identity development. Her focus has been project-based and long-term organizational development support aimed at creating inclusive organizations. She has worked with non-profit agencies that serve marginalized groups, public schools, universities, and government.
In addition to her work with Consulting Services, Betty is a member of the Opening Doors Diversity Project and a lead facilitator on its national team. She has facilitated the organization’s three-day retreat,
Opening Doors: A Personal and Professional Journey
, nationally and internationally since 1991. Betty has also dedicated many years to improving community interpretation services in schools and non-profit service agencies. She has created a series of DVDs and training tools called Authentic Voices as well as a guide to community interpretation for service providers. Betty holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Theory, Social Structure and Change from Empire State College and a master’s degree in organizational development from The Union Institute & University.
