WXXI is looking for a Communications and Special Events Coordinator to join our Creative Services team. The Communications and Special Events Coordinator will assist departments in planning, organizing, managing, and coordinating various events.
Duties and Responsibilities:
” Assist in coordination of social media on all platforms. This includes
o Content creation
o Scheduling
o Posting
” Prepares marketing assets for special events as needed
” Support various departments, which includes Membership, Creative Services, Underwriting, and Radio with their special events. Duties includes:
o Listening to department requests and keeping records of these requests
o Offering event support in various capacities
o Managing and budgeting special events
o Helping research + selecting venues suitable for events + maintaining a database of venue options
o Having good knowledge of geographic locations and their main attractions
o Organizing audiovisual equipment in advance
o Coordinating hotels, transportation, and food
o Attending and monitoring activities to ensure client satisfaction
o Reviewing bills and approving payments
o Participating in the planning of other broad events
o Preparing marketing assets for special events as needed
o Inputting schedules in to monthly program listings
o Creating/updating highlights on WXXI.org
” Other duties as assigned
Educational and Skills Requirements:
” Associate’s degree in business, marketing, event planning, or related field
” Minimum of 2-4 years’ experience in business, marketing, event planning, or related field
” Strong organizational and communication skills essential
” Fluent is social media platforms
” Knowledge of Adobe Suite and CANVA is a plus
” Excellent project management skills, including time management, goal-setting, multitasking, and prioritization
” Strong attention to detail
” Ability to work independently, be flexible, and adjust to department demands
