We have an excellent opportunity for a Skill Builder III at our Warsaw, NY location to assist in the care and treatment of the youth and families we support.
This is a full time position (35 hours’ week) Monday – Friday 9:00am-5:00pm with a flexible schedule, occasional weekend work and provides transportation when needed.
The Skill Builder 3- Community Service works directly with JD/PINS youth within Livingston County and coordinates and manages all aspects of mandated community service requirements. In addition, this individual also facilitates educational and skill building workshops to youth in the program, supports and monitors youth as they complete their worksite requirement and assists in helping to recruit new work site opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Continually demonstrate the emotional confidence and good judgment required to build productive, engaged children, youth, families and family relationships while implementing required rules and routines
- Responsible for managing youth and family activities within an individual or group dynamic, assuring the safety of the youth and families assigned, and applying appropriate emergency and crisis intervention principles and techniques
- Pro-actively maintain current knowledge of the youth and families emotional and behavioral status, assesses the effectiveness of service plans, and supports youth interactions with family and local community
- Provide life and social skills training for youth and families
Level III Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2+ years of relevant social work/skill building experience
- Must have the ability to engage youth and families in trust-based relationships
- Must have well developed advocacy skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
